With reference to the above appointment which has been offered to me I shall feel obliged if you will be so good as to inform me whether I can have an assurance that the fact that I will not be a Cadet Officer will not be considered any bar to my acting as Crown Solicitor in Mr. Kemp's absence, or to my succeeding him in the event of his promotion or transfer; in other words that with regard to this particular post I shall have Oadet status.
